Job description

We're recruiting a Branch Sales Executive to join a busy and customer-focused trade branch in Derby. This is a highly front-facing retail and trade role, ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, delivering excellent service, and working in a fast-paced sales environment.

As a Branch Sales Executive, you'll be the first point of contact for trade and retail customers, representing the branch on the trade counter, supporting sales activity, and ensuring every customer receives a professional, knowledgeable and friendly experience. Your key focus will be serving trade and retail customers face‑to‑face and over the phone, supporting branch sales performance and day-to-day operations.

Key responsibilities:
  • Providing exceptional customer service on the trade counter
  • Driving trade counter sales and supporting branch sales targets
  • Generating quotes, processing orders, and identifying sales opportunities
  • Confidently advising customers on products, availability, pricing and lead times
  • Processing card and cash payments accurately, following cash control procedures
  • Maintaining strong product knowledge, including new and existing ranges
  • Supporting stock control, deliveries, and goods-in processes
  • Keeping the branch front‑of‑house, displays and point‑of‑sale areas tidy and professional
  • Working closely with the Branch Manager and other internal teams
Skills and Knowledge
  • Experience in a customer-facing sales role (retail, trade counter or branch-based)
  • Knowledge of construction trade is essential, electrical wholesalers, Screwfix type outlets
  • A confident, friendly and professional manner with customers
  • Strong communication skills, both face‑to‑face and over the phone
  • A proactive approach to sales and customer engagement
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
  • Basic IT skills (MS Office and sales/order systems)
  • Trade counter experience is desirable but not essential
  • A full UK driving licence is advantageous
