Qualifications

Position: BPA Investment Solutions Actuary – BPA Deal Team (Retirement Solutions & Asset Management)
Type: 6‑month contract (paternity cover)
Location: London office, hybrid working with some travel to other Phoenix sites
Salary: from £70,000 FTE (subject to experience) + bonus (pro‑rated)

Role Overview

The BPA Deal team is responsible for pricing, structuring and executing all new BPA transactions. As an investment subject‑matter expert, you will work with clients and the macro team to construct price‑lock solutions, balance commercial outcomes with risk management, and deliver best‑in‑class solutions that make a meaningful impact on our proposition.

Responsibilities
  • Act as an expert on investment solutions for BPA clients, working with the macro team on the construction of price‑lock solutions and updating submitted premiums to the execution date.
  • Balance commercial outcomes with strong risk management to deliver best‑in‑class solutions for clients.
  • Support co‑ordination of premium payment including in‑specie transfer of large books of gilts, credit, swaps and cash.
  • Engage with pension scheme clients and prospects, helping them understand current assets and investigate transition options.
  • Process and deliver business‑as‑usual requirements for pre‑ and post‑transaction pricing updates and roll‑forwards, using market data.
Qualifications (Essential)
  • Qualified Investment Actuary or CFA experience.
Skills & Knowledge (Essential)
  • Practical fixed‑income analysis and modelling, including cash‑flow models for bespoke projects.
  • Experience working in an investment role within insurance, banking, consulting or asset management.
  • Understanding of asset classes used by pension schemes.
  • Knowledge of public and private markets and macro trends.
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Personal Attributes
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience interacting with a wide range of stakeholders.
