Job summary

Diageo is seeking a temporary Bottling Shift Supervisor to lead a team of 8–12 operators on a 12-hour rotating shift. You will ensure safety, quality and production targets are met while driving performance and continuous improvement across bottling lines.

You will supervise day-to-day operations, allocate resources, coach staff and coordinate with Engineering, Quality and Planning to minimise disruptions. Priorities include GMP adherence and accurate production records.

The Bottling team is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of multiple production lines, ensuring products are manufactured to the highest standards while delivering against production, quality, cost and supply targets.

About The Role

This is a temporary assignment responsible for the supervision and day-to-day running of the bottling lines on a shift-based 12-hour pattern (7:00-19:00 / 19:00-7:00). You will lead a team of approximately 8-12 operators, ensuring production requirements are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards, while driving performance across safety, quality, production and cost.

Role Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day operation of the bottling lines, ensuring production requirements are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
• Lead and coordinate the shift team, ensuring appropriate staffing, skills and resources are available to meet production requirements.
• Provide effective leadership, direction, coaching and support to operators and mechanics.
• Ensure the shift delivers against key Safety, Quality, Production, Cost and Supply Excellence targets.
• Make timely decisions and respond effectively to operational issues, breakdowns, quality concerns and changes to the production plan.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Planning and other support functions to minimise disruption and maintain production performance.
• Drive continuous improvement and employee engagement by empowering team members to identify and resolve operational issues.
• Optimise line efficiency and throughput while minimising waste and downtime.
• Ensure all relevant company policies, procedures and manufacturing standards are consistently followed.
• Provide day-to-day supervisory leadership for the bottling shift, including allocation of people and resources across multiple production lines.
• Monitor and respond to line performance, downtime, quality issues, changeovers and other production losses.
• Lead the team in root-cause problem solving and continuous improvement activities.
• Manage team performance in accordance with company policy, including training, coaching, performance management, recognition, motivation and conflict resolution.
• Coordinate attendance, holidays, overtime and shift cover to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
• Ensure accurate completion of production records, payroll information and other required documentation.
• Support the planning and implementation of key business initiatives across the bottling area.
• Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and other relevant company standards.
• Act as an ambassador for safety, quality and compliance, ensuring all employees understand and follow the required standards.
• Support internal and external safety, quality and food safety audits and ensure corrective actions are completed within agreed timescales.
• Ensure production data and systems are accurately maintained and used to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
• Use SAP and other production systems to support effective shift management and reporting.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve processes, equipment utilisation, safety, quality, efficiency and employee engagement.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S across the bottling area.
• Build strong working relationships across Operations, Engineering, Quality, Planning and other support functions.
• Develop self and others through regular feedback, coaching and performance discussions.
• Share and adopt best practices and actively support changes designed to improve business performance.
• Ensure decisions are made with consideration for both immediate operational requirements and longer-term business objectives.

Experience / Skills Required

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience within a manufacturing, FMCG or production environment.
• Experience supervising bottling or high-speed production lines.
• Knowledge and experience of SAP.
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies and production performance management.
• Understanding of GMP, food safety and quality management systems.
