Job summary

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is recruiting a Collections Assistant (Library) to support access to our extensive botanical literature collection, from the 14th century to the present day. The role involves handling enquiries from staff, students and visitors, assisting with Reading Room bookings, and contributing to engagements with external researchers.

The successful candidate will have library experience, strong IT skills, and the ability to work well in a team.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a library, ideally in research or specialised settings.
• Excellent communication skills and customer service experience.
• Able to work constructively and flexibly within a team and show attention to detail.
• Time-management and organisational skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Reading Room bookings, invigilation duties, retrievals, shelving and copying service.
• Deliver visits, tours and inductions for researchers and the public.
• Support collection management and care to preserve the collections for the future.
