Description

The role of a Bookkeeper is to provide an excellent service for clients by managing their financial records accurately and efficiently while creating and maintaining strong relationships. This role requires an individual with excellent attention to detail, a positive and professional approach, and a passion for helping businesses thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily "on‑site" bookkeeping for clients where required or manage remotely as needed.
  • Build strong and lasting relationships with a variety of SME clients, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Implement and maintain accounting software systems, such as Xero, along with tailored app‑stacks to enhance efficiency for clients.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements showing business income and expenditure.
  • Process payments, invoices, income, and receipts while ensuring data is accurately entered into accounting systems or databases.
  • Reconcile balance sheets and profit & loss accounts.
  • Manage expenses, accounts payable (including credit cards and expenses), and accounts receivable, including credit control.
  • Assist in producing monthly management accounts and reports, including preparing and posting journals for payroll, prepayments, accruals, and fixed assets.
  • Process VAT returns and ensures compliance with tax regulations.
  • Prepare and manage weekly and monthly supplier payments.
  • Support ad‑hoc administrative and financial tasks to streamline client operations.
Key Requirements
  • Fully qualified AAT or "Qualified by experience"
  • Minimum 2-3 years of Bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accountancy practice.
  • Proficiency in Xero and other accounting technologies, with a love of technology and strong Excel skills.
