With a growing team and a strong commitment to supporting its clients, the practice provides professional accounting services to a varied portfolio of businesses and individuals. The team takes pride in building positive client relationships and delivering accurate, timely financial information. This is an opportunity to join a supportive working environment where dependable service, attention to detail and collaboration are valued.

About The Role

The practice is seeking a Bookkeeper to join its team on a full-time, permanent basis. The position offers a salary of up to £32,000, depending on experience. You will manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities for a portfolio of clients and assist with the preparation of client accounts and management information. Working closely with managers, colleagues and clients, you will help ensure financial records are complete, accurate and maintained to agreed deadlines.

This role would suit someone with bookkeeping or accounts experience in an accountancy practice who enjoys balancing independent responsibility with regular communication and teamwork. You will use cloud-based accounting software to maintain client records, process transactions and support the delivery of reliable financial information. The work is varied, and you will contribute to the wider accounts function as client needs and priorities arise.

Qualifications

You will bring previous bookkeeping or accounts experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice, together with practical experience preparing and submitting VAT returns. Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail are important, as is the ability to organise your work, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. Clear communication skills and a client-focused approach will help you build effective working relationships and respond professionally to queries.

AAT qualification or current study towards an AAT qualification would be advantageous, but relevant practical experience is also valuable. You should be comfortable working with digital records and cloud-based accounting software, and willing to learn systems and processes used by the practice. Above all, you will be reliable, organised and committed to producing accurate work.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include maintaining bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients and processing sales and purchase invoices accurately. You will complete bank reconciliations, prepare and submit VAT returns, and keep client records up to date using cloud-based software. You will also assist with preparing management accounts and process payroll information where required.

In addition, you will liaise directly with clients, respond to queries and follow up on information needed to complete bookkeeping and accounts work. You will work with managers and colleagues to keep assignments progressing, flag issues where appropriate and support the wider accounts team with ad hoc duties. Throughout your work, you will maintain confidentiality and handle financial information carefully and professionally.

Benefits
  • The role offers full-time, permanent employment with a salary of up to £32,000, depending on experience.
  • You will join an established and growing accountancy practice, gain exposure to a varied client portfolio and work closely with experienced colleagues.
  • The position provides the opportunity to develop your practical bookkeeping and accounts experience, contribute across a range of client work and continue building your professional skills.
  • Further details of the practice's benefits and working arrangements can be discussed during the recruitment process.
Equal Opportunity

The employer is committed to fair and inclusive recruitment. Applications will be considered on the basis of relevant skills, experience and suitability for the role. All applicants will be treated with respect, and employment decisions will be made without discrimination on any protected or other irrelevant personal characteristic.
