Job description
Join the Revolution in Car Finance 🚗💥

At Carmoola, we’re changing the way people get on the road – making it faster, fairer, and entirely built around the customer. We’ve started with car finance, reimagining it from the ground up with a seamless, digital experience that puts drivers in control.

Since launch, we’ve raised over £540m from top-tier investors (including QED), helped over 15,000 customers get behind the wheel – and we’re scaling fast.

To take things to the next level, we’re looking for an experienced and reliable Bookkeeper to support our finance function. The ideal candidate will have strong technical bookkeeping skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Your Mission

You will manage our day-to-day financial operations, ensuring our books are accurate, up to date, and tightly managed. From owning our accounts payable and receivable processes, to maintaining clean, timely reconciliations across banks, fixed assets, prepayments and accruals, you’ll be the person who keeps our financial engine running smoothly.

A key part of your mission will be helping the finance team deliver accurate management accounts by business day 2 each month. Your timely posting, reconciliations, and attention to detail will be critical in enabling fast, reliable reporting.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Accounts Payable: Processing supplier invoices and expenses, preparing payment runs, and maintaining accurate AP records.
  • Accounts Receivable: Generating sales invoices, monitoring outstanding receivables, and following up on overdue balances.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Completing regular bank reconciliations to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Fixed Asset Reconciliation: Maintaining the fixed asset register and updating depreciation schedules.
  • Prepayments & Accruals: Preparing and posting monthly journals for prepayments and accruals.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Ensuring accurate coding and posting of financial transactions.
  • Finance Support: Assisting with month-end routines and supporting the wider finance function as needed.
What You'll Bring
  • Several years’ professional bookkeeping experience.
  • Working experience of iPlicit or a similar mid-size cloud based accounting system (Sage Intaact, Netsuite).
  • Good basic understanding of accounting concepts, including journals, ledgers, and reconciliations.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage day-to-day workload reliably.
  • Must operate as a self-employed contractor and invoice for services provided.
Why Join Carmoola?
  • Competitive hourly rate, based on experience and expertise.
  • Fully remote and flexible working – fit your hours around your day, as long as deadlines are met.
  • Autonomy and trust from day one – you’ll take full ownership of your area, with the freedom to improve processes and bring ideas to the table.
  • A culture of trust, kindness and ownership. We move fast, support each other, and enjoy the ride.
