Overview

Shifts will be based on 12 hour patterns - 4 on and 4 off. You will be working days and nights. The job is a fulltime role. This role is vital to maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and presentation in both healthcare and business settings. Commercial cleaning services in a hospital setting refer to professional cleaning operations carried out by specialised companies to maintain hygiene, safety, and regulatory compliance in healthcare environments.

What It Includes
  • Infection Control Cleaning
  • Disinfection of high-touch surfaces (e.g. bed rails, doorknobs, equipment).
  • Use of hospital-grade disinfectants and PPE.
  • Adherence to protocols like the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness (UK).
  • Clinical Area Cleaning
  • Operating theatres, patient rooms, ICUs, and treatment areas.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing medical equipment surfaces (non-invasive).
  • Waste segregation and disposal (including clinical waste).
  • General Facility Cleaning
  • Corridors, waiting rooms, staff areas, and public restrooms.
  • Floor care (mopping, vacuuming, polishing).
  • Window and surface cleaning.
  • Specialist Services
  • Deep cleaning after outbreaks or contamination.
  • Terminal cleaning (post-patient discharge).
  • Laundry and linen handling (in some contracts).
Standards & Compliance
  • NHS cleaning standards (in the UK)
  • HTM 01-05 and CQC guidelines
  • COSHH regulations for chemical handling
Hospital Cleaning
  • Perform routine cleaning of patient rooms/wards, operating theatres, corridors, sanitary facilities and public areas.
  • Safely handle and dispose of clinical waste and sharps.
  • Follow strict infection control protocols and hygiene standards.
  • Replenish supplies such as soap, hand sanitiser, and paper towels.
  • Use appropriate PPE and cleaning agents as per hospital guidelines.
Commercial Cleaning
  • Clean offices, retail spaces, restrooms, administrative and communal areas.
  • Dust, vacuum, mop, and polish surfaces to a high standard.
  • Empty bins and manage waste disposal responsibly.
  • Restock consumables and maintain supply inventory.
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
Scheduled Deep Cleaning of Commercial and Non-Commercial Environments
  • Operation theatres

  • Plant rooms
  • Ventilation system and other technical or restricted areas
Shift Information

This work will be undertaken HTM and NHS Estate Guidelines.

Key Requirements
  • Shifts based on 12‑hour patterns – 4 on and 4 off, working nights and days (rotational).
  • Full‑time cleaner across hospital and commercial environments.
  • Previous cleaning experience in hospital or commercial settings preferred.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • COSHH trained.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or night shifts.
  • Enhanced DBS check may be required for hospital work.
  • English language proficiency to communicate and complete training.
  • Enhanced DBS requirement.
  • Previous experience requirement.
  • Travel required to Bolton.
  • UK resident with right to work; no sponsorships or visas offered.
