Board Trustee and Member Finance, Audit & Risk Committee

Location: Newcastle (Board meetings) / Online (Committee meetings)

Commitment: Quarterly meetings (Board: half day in Newcastle; FARC: 2 hours online)

Term: Voluntary (expenses reimbursed)

We are now seeking a Board Trustee and Member Finance, Audit & Risk Committee, a key group that provides assurance to our Board on financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic risk management. This is a rewarding opportunity to use your professional expertise to help shape the future of a growing charity.

Main duties of the job

About the committee:

The Finance, Audit and Risk Committee meets quarterly to provide assurance to the Board on all matters relating to finance, audit, risk, business development, and transformation.

Its work includes:

  • Overseeing Everyturns financial performance, budgets, and strategic investments.
  • Ensuring effective internal and external audit processes.
  • Monitoring risk management, business continuity, and legal compliance.
  • Providing oversight of fundraising, estates, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Reviewing major transformation and digital programmes to ensure value for money and delivery against strategic goals.

What we’re looking for

We’re particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Finance and investment management
  • Strategic risk management
  • Fundraising and income generation
  • Property and estates management
  • Legal and governance

Experience in the charity, health, or social care sector would be an advantage but is not essential.

Your contribution will help:

  • Provide assurance to the Board on financial and operational performance.
  • Support oversight of internal and external audits.
  • Guide risk management, sustainability, and investment decisions.
  • Champion Everyturns values and uphold strong governance practices.

The commitment:

  • Board meetings: 4 per year (half day, Newcastle)
  • FARC meetings: 4 per year (2 hours, virtual) All travel expenses are reimbursed.
