Job summary

Fractile is seeking a board/test engineer to develop and maintain automated test content for high-power, high-speed boards used in frontier AI hardware. You will implement ICT, boundary scan, and functional tests, build fixtures, and firmware for manufacturing diagnostics.

You will collaborate with hardware, firmware, and SI/PI teams, analyze failures, and help raise test coverage and throughput across offshore EMS/CM sites, contributing to robust production testing.

Qualifications

  • 4-7 years in board/PCBA test engineering in high-volume manufacturing.
  • Hands-on with functional test development, ICT, and boundary scan/JTAG.
  • Experience designing or supporting test fixtures and automated test stations.
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital interfaces and board-level failure modes.
  • Experience developing embedded test firmware on MCUs.
  • Strong debugging across digital logic, power delivery, and interconnect issues.
  • Ability to work with offshore manufacturing partners.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain board test content for high-power boards.
  • Implement and debug test coverage across ICT, boundary scan/JTAG, and functional test stages.
  • Design and support board-level test solutions including fixtures, probes, cabling, and instrumentation.
  • Develop MCU-based board test firmware for manufacturing diagnostics, self-test, and telemetry validation.
  • Implement tests for detecting assembly defects, component failures, solder issues, and manufacturing marginalities.
  • Develop PCIe-focused board-level tests to verify chip-to-chip connectivity.
  • Support bring-up and debug of board test stations at offshore EMS/CM sites.
  • Analyze test failures and yield data to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Work closely with hardware, firmware, and SI/PI teams to close board-level testability gaps.
  • Contribute to test documentation including test specifications, debug procedures, and manufacturing release notes.
  • Support fixture qualification, tester correlation, and ongoing test maintenance.

Job description

About Fractile

Fractile was founded in 2022 on the bet that, eventually, the world's most capable AI systems would be limited in their impact by the time taken to produce useful outputs. We bet everything on the logical conclusion: that the only way to truly unlock this latent value, to make speed viable at scale, was to radically re-invent the hardware that we run our frontier AI models on. Ever since, we have been building chips and systems that tackle this problem: how to efficiently generate output at thousands of tokens per second, while handling the complexity and capacity challenges of operating large models at very long contexts.

The workloads that push to the limits of the current frontier are already transformational; it is the technical and economic limits on inference speed that are constraining progress. The defining work of the 21st century will be marked by the engine of inference delivering immense and diffuse chains of intellectual inquiry, in drug discovery, in software engineering, in materials discovery, in any field where progress is driven by deep reasoning and intelligence to resolve complex problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain board/PCBA manufacturing test content for complex, high-power, high-speed boards.
  • Implement and debug test coverage across ICT, boundary scan/JTAG, and functional test stages.
  • Design and support board-level functional test solutions, including fixtures, probes, cabling, and instrumentation.
  • Develop and maintain MCU-based board test firmware for manufacturing diagnostics, self-test, and telemetry validation.
  • Implement tests for detecting assembly defects, component failures, solder issues, and manufacturing marginalities.
  • Develop PCIe-focused board-level tests to verify chip-to-chip connectivity and integrity.

Required Qualifications

  • 4-7 years of experience in board or PCBA test engineering in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with functional test development, ICT, and boundary scan/JTAG.
  • Experience designing or supporting test fixtures and automated test stations.
  • Working knowledge of high-speed digital interfaces and board-level failure modes.
  • Experience developing or supporting embedded test firmware on MCUs.
  • Strong debug skills spanning digital logic, power delivery, and interconnect issues.
  • Ability to work effectively with offshore manufacturing partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience testing boards with AI accelerators, GPUs, networking ASICs, or similar high-power devices.
  • Familiarity with high-current VRMs, multiphase power converters, and power integrity testing.
  • Exposure to PCIe Gen5/Gen6 or other high-speed serial links in a production test environment.
  • Experience using factory data systems and yield analysis to improve test coverage and throughput.
  • Experience supporting board test during NPI, ramp, and sustained production.
