We are seeking a board member to join a global decision-making body solving the most significant challenges in online content moderation. This is a unique opportunity to influence policy and decision-making that impacts millions worldwide while advancing transparency and accountability within the tech industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and make binding decisions on complex content moderation cases, ensuring alignment with policies, values, and global human rights standards, particularly freedom of expression.
  • Provide policy recommendations to improve content governance practices and foster transparency and fairness.
  • Collaborate with a diverse, global team to navigate high-stakes decisions involving controversial and challenging content issues.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including reviewing public comments and commissioning expert research on relevant topics.
  • Contribute to industry standard-setting by participating in external engagement and thought leadership activities.
  • Dedicate approximately 8–10 hours per week, including virtual meetings and up to two in-person sessions annually, with travel costs covered.
Key Requirements
  • Extensive professional experience in the tech industry, with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Product management, particularly in consumer-facing tech roles or integrating policy, product, and operational decisions.
    • Large-scale leadership in projects involving content moderation or technical change management.
    • Balancing automated and human-led systems for consistent and replicable results.
  • Team leadership experience and a collaborative and democratic working style.
  • A steadfast personal belief in freedom of expression.
  • Strong understanding of systemic thinking—bridging the gap between technology and human interaction in complex systems like content moderation.
  • Familiarity with policies, politics, human rights, and the evolving trends in the tech sector.
  • Ability to think critically, independently, and strategically, even in high-pressure or sensitive situations.
