Job summary

A healthcare organization is seeking a skilled Information Governance Manager in Glasgow to lead their Information Governance Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and will provide advisory support across the organization. Strong legal knowledge and leadership skills are essential. They will be joining a dedicated team focused on patient-centered care and transformational change.

Qualifications

Position Summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Information Governance Manager/Deputy Data Protection Officer to lead a dynamic and committed Information Governance Team and contribute to the ongoing work ensuring the Board meets its legal obligations in this challenging and complex area.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Information Governance team and reduce the risk of non‑compliance across the Board with regard to the Data Protection Act 2018, UK General Data Protection Regulation, Caldicott Principles, Access to Health Records Act 1990 and other associated legislation and policies.
  • Advise on complex Information Governance issues, including completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments, Information Sharing Agreements and application of data protection principles to research, innovation projects and wider data processing.
  • Act as Deputy Data Protection Officer and advise the NHS Board and its partner agencies, including Police and Local Authorities, on all aspects of Information Governance.
  • Interpret and manage complex legislation and litigation relating to Information Governance and deliver practical application advice.
  • Manage and support a team of Information Governance staff to meet the Board's requirements.
Qualifications
  • Degree level education or equivalent.
  • Significant experience in data protection, with detailed knowledge of Data Protection Legislation and the Caldicott Principles.
  • Experience providing advice and support on related matters, with NHS experience beneficial but not essential.
  • Self‑starter with excellent management, organisational and people‑management skills.
  • High standard of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
