Profile

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a BMS Applications Engineer to join our growing applications department. The role would suit a motivated, hardworking and technically minded individual, ideally with experience of BMS systems with a working knowledge of Tridium and / or Trend BMS software.

Role

As a member of the applications team you will be required to work with all departments within the business, as well as dealing with client queries, to ensure the efficient delivery of projects and provide continued high levels of customer service to our clients. This will include but not be limited to the following tasks : -

  • Creating technical documentation from panel drawings, client specifications and mechanical drawings including technical submittals, descriptions of operations, commissioning documentation and operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Engineering software to company standards whilst using the description of operations and panel drawings to comply with the client’s specification.
  • Engineering graphics to company standards to provide the end user, a clear and user-friendly interface into the BMS system.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered to a high technical standard within the required timeframe.
  • Setting up computers and laptops out of the box to be provided to engineers and clients.
  • Providing remote dial in support to field engineers and clients as required.
  • Supporting other members of the applications team in the day to day running of the department.
  • Supporting the commissioning team with problem solving, trouble‑shooting and software, graphical and documentation updates.
  • Providing IT support to all departments within the business.
  • Visiting clients sites as required to support the applications and commissioning teams.
Personal Profile

The ideal candidate will have a proven track work record with excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to maintain motivation and production levels on repetitive tasks is essential along with a positive attitude to work and the ability to support the busy applications department with varying tasks as required, to ensure the delivery of projects on time and on budget.

This is primarily an office‑based position however you may be required to attend clients sites, to assist the lead commissioning engineer with software and graphical amendments to ensure deadlines are met.

Key Skills
Essential
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are essential.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft office applications, in particular Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Good time management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects to multiple deadlines.
  • Knowledge of building services mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of Building Management System fundamentals
  • Driving license – as periodic site visits may be required.
Desired But Not Essential
  • Working knowledge of either Trend & Tridium software.
  • Experience reading / creating technical documents such as Description of Operations, points lists and Operating and Maintenance manuals.
  • Knowledge of IT Networks and IP structuring
  • Basic AutoCAD skills
  • Experience of creative / editing software such as Macromedia Fireworks
Experience

The ideal candidate will have experience within the BMS industry with working knowledge of at least Trend or Tridium software however training will be given to the successful candidate. Candidates with a working knowledge of other BMS systems and HVAC fundamentals is advantageous.
