Job summary

Blue Zoo Animation Studio in London is seeking a 3D Blender Generalist with strong Lighting and Compositing skills to join our Short Form and Commercials team. You will model, texture, light, render in Blender and composite in Nuke, interfacing with Maya elements where needed.

The role supports a hybrid work approach with flexible hours and remote options. You’ll collaborate with a talented crew, meet tight deadlines and push visuals from concept to final shot.

Qualifications

• Strong Blender experience across modelling, texturing and lighting.
• Knowledge of lighting, colour grading and Blender denoising.
• Experience with Nuke compositing and pipelines.
• Ability to meet deadlines with high quality work.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the Short Form and Commercials team and coordinate with the CG Supervisor.
• Create/import 3D assets into Blender, edit materials and modifiers.
• Model from concept designs with clean topology.
• Render in Blender and finalize shots in Nuke.
• Manage shots to meet deadlines and respond to notes.

About The Role

Specialisms - Lighting and Compositing / Assets

We are currently looking for a talented 3D Blender Generalist with experience in Lighting and Compositing & Modelling within the software. This position is for an exciting new project with our Short Form and Commercials team.

Our short form team is increasingly integrating Blender into its pipeline. We still use a hybrid approach between Maya, Blender and Nuke but are looking for artists that can translate Maya animation into beautifully lit and rendered Blender scenes, and then take them through to compositing in Nuke.

Day To Day

• Working as part of the Short Form and Commercials team and regularly communicating between your Team Lead and CG Supervisor
• Creating and importing 3d assets into Blender, and editing materials and modifiers
• Interpreting volume and form when creating models from concept designs
• Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of clean topology practices, particularly when it comes to subdivision modelling
• Knowledge of linking and library overrides in Blender
• Rendering shots in Blender and finalising shots in Nuke compositing
• Managing your shots and time efficiently to meet deadlines
• Problem solving around your lighting tasks, including revisiting assets and animation files to help iron out fixes
• Acting on notes and feedback from your Team Lead

About You

Must Have:

• Strong, demonstrable experience of using Blender to a high level across all of these areas, ideally without the use of paid external addons; Modelling, Sculpting, UV Unwrapping, Texturing and Surfacing
• Knowledge of lighting tools, colour grading and denoising render inside of Blender
• Knowledge of Nuke Compositing
• Strong working knowledge of 3D software packages and pipelines
• Ability and experience meeting demanding deadlines whilst retaining a high quality level of work

Bonus Points

• Basic knowledge of Maya
