Job summary

A healthcare provider is looking for a Specialist/Trainee Biomedical Scientist to join their Haematology department. The ideal candidate will hold an HCPC registration and an IBMS accredited BSc, focusing on analyzing patient blood samples to aid in diagnosis. This role offers opportunities for development toward a specialist BMS position, with initial hours 9-5 while training, transitioning to a 24/7 shift pattern. You will be part of a supportive team and play a crucial role in ensuring patient care.

Qualifications

  • HCPC registration is mandatory.
  • BSc in a relevant field accredited by IBMS is required.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD) is expected.
  • Specialization in Haematology or Blood Transfusion is needed.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, process, and validate specialist investigations in Haematology.
  • Ensure high-quality and timely analysis of patient blood samples.
  • Participate in the 24/7 out-of-hours shift rota as a BMS.

Skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills
Computer literate (including pathology systems and Microsoft packages)
Excellent attention to detail
Able to work flexibly to meet the changing requirements of the service
Out of hours working and commitment to 24 hour working
