A healthcare provider in Tees Valley is seeking a highly motivated Biomedical Scientist to join their Histology team. The role involves performing various laboratory techniques, supervising staff, and ensuring safety protocols are met. Applicants must be HCPC registered and skilled in laboratory practices. This position offers a flexible schedule with a 1:6 Saturday rota.
Advert may close once sufficient number of applications is reached. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Biomedical Scientist to join our friendly Histology team for 27 hours per week.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, HCPC state-registered Biomedical scientists. The successful applicant will rotate through all sections of the department, including Specimen dissection, Processing / Microtomy and Immunohistochemistry.
The pathology departments at NTH and STH are working collaboratively to develop a joint service with services being delivered on both hospital sites. This will require cross‑site working as appropriate.
The department operates between 07.00 - 18.00 Monday to Friday and the post holder is expected to work flexibly within these hours. In addition, the post holder is required to work a 1:6 Saturday rota.
The Department has UKAS accreditation and IBMS training approval and has a well‑established CPD programme.

Under the direction of the Cellular Pathology Management team, the post holder will be required to perform routine day‑to‑day operations within these departments, rotating between all sections within the specialty following approved methodologies and procedures. To assist in the training and development of Trainee Biomedical Scientists, Higher Healthcare Science Support Workers, Healthcare Support Workers and other staff grades according to departmental policy.
