Biomedical Scientist - Microbiology

We're looking for an enthusiastic Biomedical Scientist to join our dynamic Microbiology team at The London Clinic's Pathology Department in Central London (W1G 7L). This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to high‑quality diagnostic work in one of the UK's most respected private hospitals. We are offering a competitive salary range of £50713 to £60848 per annum.

The department undertakes bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, serology and molecular microbiology. Combining manual and automated methodology, as well as highly specialised tasks that require a high level of concentration, knowledge and skills.

The Laboratory holds UKAS accreditation (ISO 15189:2022) and is accredited with the IBMS for pre HCPC registration training.

The department is equipped with numerous automated platforms, including Biomerieux Bact/Alert Virtuo, Bact/Alert 3D, Vitek 2, Bruker MALDI‑TOF, OrthoQuidel Vitros XT7600, Vidas 3, Diasorin Liaison XL, Cepheid GeneXpert, ELITe BeGenius, Altona AltoStar and Qiagen QiaStat.

Job Profile

The Post holder will act as a Specialist HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist within the Microbiology Department. You will undertake manual and automated processes, interpretation and report generation to aid clinicians in patient care pathways. You will demonstrate a high standard of quality in your work, as well as maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of current working practices within diagnostic microbiology.

Successful candidates will be conscientious, enthusiastic, and highly motivated, with excellent organisational and communication skills. You should be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating competence as an autonomous practitioner across all shift patterns required for service delivery.

Job Type & Shift Pattern

This is a permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week (including weekends, bank holidays and shift patterns as required).

Salary

£50713 to £60848 per annum (dependent on experience).
