Job description
About the Role

Are you interested in starting an exciting new career? We have an excellent opportunity for state registered Biomedical Scientists. Alternatively, EPA have a proven track record of “growing our own” Biomedical Scientist’s and this position is suitable for candidates that have an IBMS accredited degree and are seeking a laboratory based position to complete their registration portfolio for HCPC registration.

Working as part of the Eastern Pathology Alliance, based at the James Paget University Hospital (JPUH) Great Yarmouth, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a cutting edge Laboratory encompassing Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Transfusion and Andrology.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Multidisciplinary Blood Science Spoke Laboratory at the JPUH. The successful candidate will ideally be multidisciplinary trained in Hematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry. If you have an interest in training as a multidisciplinary Biomedical Scientist, we would welcome your application.

Responsibilities & Expectations

Knowledge of laboratory based computers, audits, SOPs, ISO standards and quality is a requirement. Essential qualities we require are an ability to work within a team, good communication skills, good technical proficiency and an ability to work unsupervised. You must be able to work under pressure and be able to meet deadlines, be flexible and adaptable and show that you are motivated and willing to develop your knowledge and skill.

You will be joining a friendly vibrant team in a recently refurbished laboratory. The Laboratory operates Abbott Alinity Haematology and Chemistry analysers, Werfen TOPS coagulation and Immucor NEO Blood Grouping analysers, with Grifols analysers currently under evaluation to replace the Neo’s in Transfusion.

You will support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence.

You will also be trained to a high standard in a multidisciplinary setting and would have the opportunity should it arise to work at other sites within EPA.
