Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our Haematology and Blood Transfusion department within one of the largest NHS‑led Pathology Services in the South of England. This role offers a unique chance to be part of a forward‑thinking organisation renowned for its innovation, collaboration and commitment to delivering high‑quality patient care. As a key member of our multidisciplinary laboratory team, you will play an essential role in providing accurate and timely diagnostic results that directly contribute to patient treatment and outcomes. Our department combines advanced technology, modern laboratory practices and a strong culture of continuous improvement to ensure excellence across all services.

Responsibilities
  • Work within the Haematology and Blood Transfusion team to deliver a high‑quality, patient‑focused diagnostic service.
  • Rotate through Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Transfusion, analysing and validating patient samples using advanced analysers such as the Abbott Alinity H, Werfen ACL TOP, and IBG Iris systems.
  • Perform IQC/EQA, maintain equipment, adhere to Health & Safety and COSHH regulations, and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Support the QMS through audits, non‑conformance reporting and corrective actions, participate in staff training and service improvement initiatives, and work flexibly as part of the 24‑hour diagnostic rota to ensure timely results and continuity of care.
