Job summary
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is recruiting a HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Blood Sciences team at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The role covers Haematology and Blood Transfusion with a 37.5-hour week, including evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays, supporting a 24/7 diagnostic service.
Applicants should be HCPC registered, have post-registration NHS experience, and be prepared to deputise for senior staff as required.
Qualifications
- HCPC registered with relevant post-registration experience.
- BSc(Hons) Biomedical Sciences (IBMS approved) or equivalent.
- Evidence of CPD and professional development.
- Membership in IBMS or equivalent professional body.
- Specialist Diploma in more than one Blood Science discipline or BBTS Specialist Certificate.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing a diagnostic service.
- Perform a range of laboratory procedures within HCPC scope.
- Attain proficiency in Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion for 24/7 service.
- Participate in out-of-hours service as lone worker or team leader.
- Deputise for Senior BMS staff and lead a specialist section as required.
