A UK healthcare provider is looking for a Biomedical Scientist in Cellular Pathology for a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. The role requires appropriate degree and state registration (IBMS), with responsibilities including working collaboratively with medical staff, rotating through laboratory sections, and engaging in digital pathology. Biomedical Scientist – Cellular Pathology (Band 5, 37.5hrs/week) – 12 month fixed‑term contract covering maternity leave. Join our busy Cellular Pathology team at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. The department processes over 22,000 surgical histology requests and 1,600 non‑gynaecological specimens annually.
• Demonstrated cellular pathology expertise and IBMS registration portfolio. • Self‑motivated, organised and actively engaged in CPD activities. • Work alongside Medical Laboratory Assistants, Assistant Practitioners, Junior Medical staff and Consultant Pathologists. • Rotate through all laboratory sections and participate in early/late rota following relevant training. • Engage fully with digital pathology and Vantage workflow management systems, supporting day‑to‑day operation and service development. • Promote safeguarding and welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, implementing Trust policies and procedures.
