Location: University Hospital of North Tees, Hardwick, Stockton on Tees, TS198PE

Pay Rates: £17.13 - £20.88 per hour (exc WTD)

Shift Patterns: 37.5 hours – Monday to Friday

Job Overview

A vacancy has arisen for a Biomedical Scientist to join the team at the University Hospital of North Tees. We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic Biomedical Scientist with a flexible approach to work.

Responsibilities
  • Perform internal quality control of Histopathological tissue sections.
  • Ensure all tests are performed efficiently within the assigned time and in accordance with established protocols to the required standards.
  • Monitor stock levels and initiate delivery using pre-arranged standing orders against predefined minimum stock levels as defined by laboratory management.
  • Assist in monitoring quality standards, perform audit as directed in line with service needs.
  • Assist in maintaining high scientific and technical standards.
  • Reporting results using the laboratory computer system in line with procedures authorised by the laboratory management/head of department.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Must be HCPC registered.
  • Must have a degree in Biomedical Sciences.
  • Must have experience in all aspects of Histology.
  • Must have Microtomy experience (Microtomy rate of 25 blocks per hour minimum).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

In addition to experience, all Qualified roles will be required to provide evidence of

  • Relevant Qualifications.
  • Registration with the relevant Registration Body if applicable.

This is part of Regulation 22 and we want to ensure we give candidates the heads up to have their qualifications ready to prevent delays when we onboard at Trust ID stage.
