Addenbrookes CUH Biochemical Genetics Unit is looking for an experienced, versatile, and highly dynamic Biomedical Scientist to join our team of BMS’ and MLA's.
To be suitable for this substantive role, you must have a degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent and be registered with the HCPC.
Completed registration portfolio awaiting assessment will be considered (starting salary Band 4 until HCPC registration has been awarded.)
You will have the following:-
Our laboratory runs an extended hours service and there is a requirement for you to be flexible and able to participate in the shift rota, covering Lates and Saturdays.
Please note that the interview will include a practical and an IT assessment which will be scored and contribute to the overall interview performance.
Undertake testing and processing of biological specimens. Entering of results into the hospital IT systems and communication of results to service users.
To work flexibly in reflection of service needs. This may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service.
Supervise and/or train less experienced staff in own area of work and competency. Post holder must not work outside their defined field of competence
The work of the service brings staff into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals. This may include blood, pus, urine, faeces, and respiratory secretions.
Maintain and promote professional image of the Biomedical Science profession and Cambridge University Hospital’s Trust.
