Job summary

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is seeking a Biomedical Assistant to work in Specimen Reception at Coventry and George Eliot sites. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Input accurate patient and specimen data onto Trust computerised systems.
• Safely dispose of contaminated materials including sharps and confidential waste.
• Be the first point of contact for telephone and face-to-face enquiries in a professional manner.
• Sort and identify specimens; take appropriate action on discrepancies.
• Prepare samples for testing by laboratory staff and provide basic laboratory support.
• Dispatch samples to authorised persons and external laboratories in compliance with regulations.
