Job summary

Intertek in Melbourn, England, is seeking a Biological Characterisation Scientist to join our expanding team. You will support analytical testing for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical clients, performing cell culture and biological assays while gaining hands-on experience with a range of techniques.

You'll work with experienced scientists in a regulated lab, develop skills, and contribute to high-quality scientific work. Strong attention to detail and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related field
• Experience in biological analysis, cell culture or related techniques
• Experience with ELISA or cell-based assays (desirable)
• Understanding of GMP or regulated laboratory environments (desirable)
• Good laboratory practice and attention to detail
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn new techniques

Responsibilities

• Perform routine mammalian cell culture and biological assays
• Carry out analytical testing, including ELISA and cell-based assays
• Support method development, optimization and validation activities
• Generate accurate scientific data and maintain clear laboratory records
• Interpreting results and contributing to technical reports
• Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring a clean, organized working environment
• Working in accordance with GMP, company procedures and health and safety requirements
• Collaborating with colleagues across the laboratory to deliver projects on time and to a high standard
• Continuously developing your technical knowledge and laboratory skills
