Job summary

Mercor seeks a Bioinformatics & Computational Single-Cell Genomics Expert to design graduate-level problems based on real scientific workflows. You will create tasks that require skilled use of tools like Scanpy, scvelo, Squidpy and Gudhi, and test them against state-of-the-art AI models.

You’ll work remotely, with 15–20 hours per week, developing puzzles that favor strategic reasoning and reproducibility over raw computation. A MS/PhD in a STEM field and strong Python skills are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate-level training in a relevant STEM field (MS/PhD preferred).
• Proven proficiency with at least one listed scientific software library, demonstrated via publications or contributions.
• Strong Python skills for problem setups, oracle functions, and validators.
• Experience executing research-level, reproducible workflows in Linux environments.
• Available for 15–20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Design original problems using real scientific workflows and tools.
• Create challenging computational problems requiring multi-step reasoning.
• Test problems against AI models and refine until achieving target difficulty.
