As we enter a new phase of rapid global growth, we are seeking aBioinformatics Operations Technician to be a core link in our client delivery processes.

What you’ll do

We are seeking a methodical and detail-oriented individual with a scientific background to join our Bioinformatics team. This role is crucial for our commercial data delivery, acting as a key link between our lab, bioinformatics and operations teams. You will ensure the smooth flow and high quality of our project data, making sure quality control is consistently applied and issues are resolved efficiently. This is an entry-level, fixed-term role with no formal bioinformatics training required.

  • Collaborate with the lab and bioinformatics teams to investigate and resolve data quality issues.
  • Monitor and triage QC data from NGS platforms, making timely decisions on what to do with samples failing QC.
  • Execute automated bioinformatics pipelines to generate standard single-species reports and multi-species data for our digital platform.
  • Uphold our quality standards by following QA SOPs and escalating complex issues.
  • Proactively communicate and elevate potential delays, roadblocks, or defects to the appropriate team.
  • Meticulously maintain our issue registers to ensure accurate business KPI reporting.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our business.

  • A BSc (or equivalent experience) in molecular biology or a related field.
  • Methodical and independent working style with strong time management skills.

  • Client-focused and aware of your impact on the delivery of client projects.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with common bioinformatics tools and comfort at the command line
  • An understanding of next-generation sequencing protocols
  • Experience using Jira for issue tracking and Confluence for documentation.
