Mediplacements are recruiting for an experienced Band 5 Biomedical Scientist in Biochemistry for a locum role with our client located in London.

Pay: £19 per hour. Assignment duration: 50 weeks. Start date: ASAP.

Band: 5

Operational Hours: 7.5 hours with 1 hour break.

Working days: Monday – Friday.

Work hours: 09:00 – 17:30.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work on a rotational basis across all sections of the H&I laboratory, performing a range of scientific and technical duties under supervision, including sample handling, processing, and analysis.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota to support urgent transplant work.
  • Maintain accurate records, contribute to the laboratory’s quality management system, and ensure compliance with local and national guidelines (including UKAS, EFI, MHRA, and HTA).
  • Support the maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment and manage stock levels.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals, and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Undertake laboratory assays as required.
  • Adhere to Trust values, policies, and procedures, including those relating to health and safety, equality and safeguarding, and infection control.
  • Contribute to audit, research, and service improvement activities as required.
Qualifications

The successful candidate must be HCPC registered and have experience in Biochemistry.
