Job description
Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive research technician to join our dynamic faculty technical team, which strives to provide sector leading technical support across our schools in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine & Health.

Location

The post is based in the Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre (MFHRC) at St. Mary’s Hospital, which is part of the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).

Purpose

The overall purpose of the role will be to provide technical support as directed in a range of activities associated with the Maternal & Fetal Health Research Centre human tissue banks and research clinics, including obtaining and processing biological samples from patients and research participants, and processing human tissue samples, blood and urine for storage in accordance with tissue bank Standard Operating Procedures and the Human Tissue Authority (HTA).

Qualifications
  • Qualified at QCF level 6 in a relevant biological science or QCF level 2 passes in English and Maths and at least one science subject.
  • At least one QCF level 2 passes in English and Maths and at least one science subject with relevant experience working in a biological research laboratory.
