Job description
Background

Bio&Me is six years old and we’re well on our way to establishing ourselves as the leading gut health food brand in the UK with our focus on Granolas, Porridges, Bars, Kefir Yoghurts and Drinks. With every recipe created and designed by our Co‑Founder, Dr Megan Rossi, PhD RD.

Key Responsibilities / Purpose of Role

Beyond the overall idea of you being the in‑house gut health expert … enabling you to advise and guide the team in all areas at an operational level … we believe there are three key areas of focus for this role :

  • Consumer Communications
  • Retailer Communications
  • NPD Development

However, as you will be our first ever person‑in‑position, we would like you to come in with a flexible attitude as things will grow and adapt fast. They always do at Bio&Me.

Consumer Communications

Alongside our other key pillars of “Easy” and “Taste”, we have a Communications Pillar focused on “the best for Gut Health”. This combines “why Bio&Me products are the very best for gut health”, as well as explaining simple concepts around gut health such as Plant Based Diversity and Live and Active Cultures, and how they work in our products.

Working with the Marketing Director and Agency, you will help us create engaging content that will help take our Bio&Me brand to the next level. There is an element of ‘discovery’ about this as we are really just starting on this journey, but we believe this will include :

  • Briefing and devising creative; drafting scripts, with and for Dr Megan (and, over time, for yourself), to communicate Bio&Me’s benefits, nutrition and gut health content for social, writing gut health blogs and content for our newsletters.
  • Crucially, to ensure that all communications in this pillar and all others are 100% scientifically and nutritionally accurate and regulatory compliant.

We should stress. You don’t need to be a creative / influencer yourself. That’s what we have the agency and marketing team for. But we do need you to come up with ideas / topics / angles that might be interesting for our consumers. We also need you to have strong written communication skills i.e. be able to turn scientific concepts into easy to digest blogs and social content.

Retailer Communications

At the most basic level, your role will initially to be to ensure that all communications that we present to our Key Customers (Tesco, Sainsbury etc) are nutritionally accurate. The famous “Ticks and Crosses” charts etc!

As your knowledge of Bio&Me grows, we believe there is the potential for you to support Dr Megan in her role positively influencing customers, working with the Sales team, meeting customers, and hosting gut health education events etc. This can grow into a key pillar of the role.

NPD and EPD Development

At a fundamental level, you will be 100% responsible for ensuring that all our products Nutritional Information remain 100% accurate and regulatory compliant, as they are now.

On NPD and EPD, you will work closely with the COO and NPD Manager to create and strengthen new ideas; and then ensure all recipes are developed 100% in line with Dr Megan’s principles. Dr Megan will, of course, continue to be involved throughout the development process and will have final sign‑off.

Beyond this, we also encourage all members of the team to analyse the market and come up with new opportunities. And we would welcome these from you, with a strong nutritional perspective.

Experience / Qualifications
  • You will be a Dietitian or Registered AFN Nutritionist. Please do not apply if you do not have one of these qualifications.
  • You will be a graduate with a relevant degree to at least 2:1 standard.
  • Ideally, you will have worked in a Food Company before for 4 or more years.
  • You will have a positive, flexible attitude happy to get stuck in to and learn new areas.
  • You will role model and be happy to champion Dr Megan’s gut health principles.
  • You will have a crucial attention to detail and written communications skills.
  • You will have a passion for gut health science and keeping up with the latest trends online.
  • You will enjoy nutrition myth busting, and reading new research studies and translating what they mean for our consumers.
