Job summary

SCS Railways seeks a BIM Coordinator to support coordination, clash detection and QA across SCS JV’s Shaft and Headhouse assets for the HS2 London Tunnels contract. You will manage design integration with subcontractors, ensure outputs meet SCS and HS2 BIM/CAD standards, and align with the BEP.

Flexible working is available; the role requires coordinating across disciplines within the delivery team, with emphasis on data quality, model health, and deliverable milestones.

Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating BIM across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Understanding of BIM design and construction phases and PAS/BS1192 and ISO19650 basics.
  • Experience with large infrastructure projects, rail preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular clash detection and coordination reviews.
  • Coordinate BIM outputs in line with HS2 CAD specs and BEP.
  • Support federated model production and validation across subcontractors.
  • Review models for LoD/LoMI alignment and IFC data structuring.
  • Act as liaison between disciplines, supply chain and third parties.
  • Contribute to DAC and MPDT preparation for BIM deliverables.
  • Prepare clash reports and model health checks for assurance.

Role

The BIM Coordinator is responsible for supporting the coordination, clash detection, and

quality assurance of multi-disciplinary models and drawings across SCS JV’s Shaft and

Headhouse assets. The role plays a key part in managing design integration activities and

the Delivery Unit BIM Lead, ensuring that subcontractor models meet agreed standards,

and that all outputs align with SCS and HS2’s BIM and CAD specifications.

and that all outputs align with SCS and HS2’s BIM and CAD specifications.

Main Responsibilities

The BIM Coordinator is responsible for

  • Perform regular clash detection and coordination reviews, leading issue resolution in alignment with SCS BIM execution Plan.
  • Coordination, assurance and Implementation of BIM in accordance with the SCS BIM Execution Plan and HS2 CAD Specification (HS2-HS2-IM-SPE-000-000006).
  • Support federated model production and validation across multiple subcontractors and design disciplines.
  • Review incoming models for alignment with Level of Detail (LoD), Level of Model Information (LoMI), and geometric/data structuring in line with IFC/Uniclass.
  • Being a point of contact for other disciplines, supply chain and third parties. Liaise with the supply chain to ensure modelling outputs meet design coordination and assurance requirements.
  • Support in the production and coordination of the key BIM deliverables such as Data Acceptance Certificate (DAC) and Model Production Delivery Table (MPDT) among others to assure supply chain BIM deliverables in line with the Employers Information Requirements.
  • Assist in preparation of clash reports, model health checks, and coordination review records for internal and client assurance.
  • Ensure alignment with the Common Data Environment (ProjectWise, ACC), naming conventions, and model file protocols.
  • Being a link between various disciplines such as engineering, design, construction, temporary and permanent works design, following the BIM process outlined in the SCS BEP.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Educated to HNC or higher
  • Sustained Continuing Professional Development
  • Experience across all stages of a project lifecycle
  • Experience of working within project environments
  • Experience of managing the challenges associated with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Understanding of BIM in design and construction phases and of using the Digital Plan of Works
  • Preferable to have experience of industrialised construction
  • Working knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations
  • Project experience in supporting or managing the BIM process in accordance with PAS1192:2 Desirable/Advantageous Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience coordinating, interrogating and assuring the quality of BIM deliverables.
  • Implementing, promoting and auditing data quality.
  • Involvement on large complex projects in the infrastructure sectors, in a rail environment.
  • Proficient in a range of BIM related software such as Navisworks, Solibri, Revit etc
  • Experience in coordinating complex, multi-discipline in-house BIM models with supply chain and third parties.
  • Contribution to working with large data sets, databases, and using coding and/or ETL solutions to process this data e.g. FME, Python.
  • A good understanding of BI needs, including data manipulation, analysis, and visualisation skills, including Microsoft Power BI.
  • Knowledge and awareness of survey methods, point clouds and as-builts.
  • Familiarity with Bentley suite of software for example Open Buildings Designer, ProjectWise and iTwin.
  • Familiarity with .ifc file types and schema including mapping and converting from other model types and formats.
  • Awareness of PAS/BS1192 and ISO19650 standards, relevant certification desirable.
  • Awareness of GIS file types and methods of working.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
