Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking a Mechanical Craftsperson to maintain mechanical, electrical and building services across NHS facilities. The role supports clinical departments in maintaining safe, compliant environments and may involve boilers, steam systems, medical gases, heating and water systems.

The post requires flexibility for day/evening shifts and an on-call rota. Welsh language capability is desirable, with support to develop Welsh communication skills during employment.

Qualifications

• HNC or HND or equivalent with time-served apprenticeship.
• Fully conversant with core mechanical trades including electrical and gas.
• Knowledge of asbestos awareness and handling near asbestos products.
• Statutory tasks training (e.g., Gas Safe, sterilisers).
• Aware of Health Board Fire Defence Policy.

Responsibilities

• Maintain mechanical, electrical and building services to required standards.
• Support clinical service departments in maintaining facilities.
• Participate in day-to-day maintenance of boilers, steam systems, medical gases, heating, hot water and buildings.
• Cover morning/afternoon shifts and participate in on‑call rota.
