“Big 3” Global Commodity Trading Risk Management Strategy Consultants

Global leading “Big Three” / MBB blue‑sky strategy consulting firms, with one of the most impressive global brands, seek 6 x Commodity Trading Risk Management Consultants to join their Global Commodity Trading Risk Management Advisory Practice based from any major city (with an international airport) in Europe, including London, Geneva, Zurich, Düsseldorf, Paris, Madrid and Milan.

Working principally with the largest global Oil & Gas Producers, Utilities, Metals & Mining Operators, Agro‑businesses, as well as Merchant Traders, Investment Banks and Commodities Exchanges, you’ll join a global team of experienced energy/commodity trading risk consultants helping commodity traders in each of those industries capitalize on market conditions to create value through updated strategies, operating models, portfolios, IT systems, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop marketing, sourcing, and trading strategies and business models to manage risks in commodity trading.
  • Implement commodity risk management operating models including governance, organization, business and risk processes, and IT systems.
  • Promote cross‑industry expertise, tools, and perspectives to provide enhanced insights and capabilities.
  • Transfer knowledge and ownership to clients’ commodity trading and risk management organizations.
  • Assess trading performance through proprietary benchmarking tools.

You’ll join one of, if not the most respected global consultancies, working with like‑minded, very intelligent, dynamic professionals, including energy/commodity trading industry experts coming from both industry and rival consultancies. This will allow you to learn and continue to develop your energy/commodity trading business knowledge, working with the world’s leading global energy/commodity trading clients.

Salary: Open but typically between £70k up to £150k basic + bonus + benefits.

Key Skills & Experience Sought
  • Minimum of 3 years+ for Consultants (more for Senior Consultants, Managers, etc.), coming either from a rival consultancy providing energy/commodity trading advisory services or from industry (energy trading firm) in an internal consultant role, Risk Analyst, Product Control Analyst, Trader or other business‑facing energy/commodity trading position.
  • If coming from industry, you may have worked on a Graduate Rotational Scheme of an Oil & Gas or Utility Major, gaining strong cross‑commodity and role experience, but be looking to move into a more global role, gaining wider geographical and Front‑to‑Back Office knowledge.
  • 70% of our projects are in Energy Trading (Power, Gas, LNG & Oil) so ideally you will have some Energy Trading experience, although you could alternatively have Metals Trading or Agricultural/Softs Trading experience.
  • We seek the brightest and best, most dynamic energy/commodity trading consultants. You will need to showcase a track record of success throughout your CV/resume, including progression in your roles.
  • Strong academics are essential: A*s, As and Bs at ALevel and a 2:1 or 1st class degree from a world‑leading university.
  • Flexibility on global travel is important, so you’ll need to be keen to travel to Singapore, Dubai, Geneva, London, Houston, etc., for up to 1 week at a time to work on client sites, but with plenty of flexible working‑from‑home opportunities when not on site.
