Culture Guru is partnering with an award-winning main contractor within construction refurbishment and fit-out. For 25 years they've been making a positive impact at the heart of communities across London and the South East, creating homes and places people are proud of, where they can live safely and thrive. They're now looking for a genuinely brilliant Bid Writer to help them win the work that makes all of that possible.

This is not a role where you'll be quietly tidying up other people's words. Sitting at the heart of a dynamic bid team and reporting to the Head of Bid Management (and Managing Director), you'll work on every element of the bid writing process – producing bespoke, high-quality SQ and tender submissions. For many clients and consultants, you'll be the first person they meet from the business, and through your words you'll shape the impression they form of the company.

You’ll be the person who can take a tricky tender question, break it down, identify the winning strategy, and write a response that's clear, compelling and scores top marks – answers an evaluator simply can't mark down. If you care about the craft of a well-argued submission and quietly raise the standard of everything you touch, you'll fit right in.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Writing bespoke, high-quality responses to SQs and ITT/tender questions – breaking questions down into their individual elements so every answer is clear, evidenced and scores top marks
  • Translating technical information into proposals that both technical and non-technical audiences can understand, clearly communicating the key benefits of our response
  • Liaising with clients and co-ordinating internal teams so submissions demonstrate a clear understanding of client requirements
  • Understanding the evaluation criteria and rules of each tender, and identifying a "winning strategy" for every response
  • Reading tender documents and completing a bid plan to ensure a conforming bid is submitted on time
  • Producing compelling case studies and gathering additional evidence to support submissions
  • Requesting tender-stage support from operational teams (programmes, method statements, risk assessments, site plans) and chasing it back in on time and to a high standard
  • Supporting the daily management of tender clarifications so they reach the bid and estimating teams promptly
  • Organising bid production so printing or uploading of final SQ and ITT documents always happens on time
  • Maintaining the bid library, collating high-scoring responses, and helping manage the bid pipeline and references database
  • Attending tender launch meetings and reviews for Director sign-off, and preparing and briefing tender interview presentations
  • Obtaining detailed feedback on unsuccessful bids and implementing improvements from lessons learnt
  • Supporting the marketing team with internal and external material, and championing the corporate tone of voice and style guide
  • Building rapport with clients and consultants, and working to all company policies and procedures
Ideal attributes of the successful candidate:
  • Demonstrable, creative writing skills – you're a genuinely strong writer who can make complex information clear, persuasive and easy to understand (essential)
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience (essential)
  • Excellent computer skills: advanced MS Word, strong Excel and PowerPoint, and a working knowledge of InDesign (essential)
  • Brilliantly organised with strong time management – you prioritise well and see multiple concurrent bids through to completion
  • Good business acumen and a clear focus on client satisfaction
  • A thorough understanding of the bid process and experience of bids/tender writing in a fast-paced environment (desirable), including electronic tender platforms
  • A clear, confident communicator who can influence at all levels and build genuine rapport with clients
  • Accurate, methodical and detail-driven – reliable, empathetic and a real team player

This is more than just a job – it's a chance to join a long-established, values-led business that invests in its people, delivers work that genuinely matters to communities, and gives you the room to make the role your own.
