Job summary

Wates Group is seeking a Bid Writer to join our Proposals team, based out of our Newbury office. This role plays an important part in our work‑winning activity, supporting the development of clear, compelling and client‑focused bids across our Construction business.

You’ll work closely with bid, pre‑construction and delivery colleagues, contributing to submissions that showcase Wates' strengths, experience and values.

Qualifications

• Experience in a bid writing, proposals or similar role.
• Strong written communication and attention to detail.
• Good organisational skills with deadline management.
• Experience in construction or built environment is beneficial, but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Writing engaging, well-structured and client-focused bid responses.
• Reviewing tender questions and translating requirements into clear written content.
• Working with subject matter experts to gather information and develop responses.
• Editing and reviewing content to ensure accuracy, clarity and consistency.
• Supporting bid reviews, final submissions and post-bid feedback.
• Contributing to lessons learned and continuous improvement.
