Job description

About The Role

Word360 is a Birmingham-based technology platform delivering language services to the NHS and wider health and social care sector. Our services span face to face, telephone, video, British Sign Language, translation, and AI-assisted interpreting, delivered through our Wordskii platform which integrates directly with NHS clinical systems. Wondaa, our AI interpreter, is at the forefront of how language services are evolving.

We are a multi-award-winning business in a strong growth phase with an ambitious revenue target and a commercial team being built to match it.

Main Purpose of Job

This is a writing role, first and foremost. You will work under the direction of our Bid Manager, who owns bid strategy, opportunity pipeline, and framework relationships, and your job is to turn that strategy into submissions that win. Every tender we bid for deserves a response that reads as a genuine, compelling argument for why Word360 is the right choice, not a compliance exercise that answers the question and nothing more.

You will be producing narrative-based responses to complex NHS and public sector tender questions, translating technical, operational, and clinical information into clear, persuasive, evidence-backed writing. You will need to work at pace. Tender deadlines do not move, and a submission window often means several substantial responses due in the same week.

This role suits someone who takes genuine craft pride in the quality of their writing, who can hold a complex argument together across a long document, and who wants to get better at their trade every single time they submit.

What good looks like in this role

A response that a procurement evaluator remembers. Clear structure, a genuine argument, evidence that supports the claim being made, and language that reads as confident rather than generic. If a response could have been submitted by any supplier with the client's name swapped out, it has not done its job.

Responsibilities and Duties
Bid writing
  • Write high-quality, narrative-based responses to NHS and public sector tender questions, working from the bid strategy and win themes set by the Bid Manager.
  • Translate technical, operational, and clinical information from subject matter experts across the business into clear, persuasive, evidence-backed written responses.
  • Manage multiple concurrent submissions to hard deadlines, prioritising effectively when several substantial responses are due in the same period.
  • Ensure every response is fully compliant with the tender specification while reading as a genuine commercial argument rather than a checklist.
  • Proofread and quality-check your own and colleagues' work to a consistently high standard before submission.
Content and evidence gathering
  • Work with colleagues across operations, business development, account management, and finance teams to gather the evidence, data, and case studies that make a response compelling.
  • Interview internal subject matter experts effectively, extracting the detail needed to answer complex questions credibly.
  • Maintain and continuously improve Word360's bid library and response bank, ensuring content stays current, accurate, and reusable across submissions.
Continuous improvement
  • Review feedback from won and lost bids, working with the Bid Manager to understand what worked and apply it to future submissions.
  • Stay current on best practice in bid writing and tender response, bringing new techniques and structures into the team's work.
  • Support the Bid Manager in maintaining a consistent house style and quality standard across all submissions.
  • Wider support
  • Support the marketing team with sector-relevant written content where capacity allows.
  • Contribute to the wider commercial team's understanding of what is winning and losing in the market, based on direct experience of writing and reviewing responses.
Wider support
  • Support the marketing team with sector-relevant written content where capacity allows.
  • Contribute to the wider commercial team's understanding of what is winning and losing in the market, based on direct experience of writing and reviewing responses.
Skills and Attributes Required

We need someone who can write. Not someone who can manage a bid process, though process matters, but someone whose actual written work is genuinely good and who can produce it fast and under pressure.

  • Demonstrable experience writing narrative-based tender responses, ideally for NHS, local authority, or wider public sector procurement. Experience with NHS specifically is a strong advantage.
  • Confident using AI tools to support research, drafting and bid development, while maintaining full ownership of quality, accuracy, and final judgement on every submission.
  • A portfolio or specific examples of bid writing you can talk through in detail, including what made the response effective.
  • Experience working to word count limits of 500-1000 words per response
  • Excellent written English. This is the single most important requirement of the role, and we will test it directly as part of the process.
  • Commercial acumen. You understand that a bid response is there to win business, not simply to answer a question, and you can identify and build a genuine argument rather than reciting facts.
  • The ability to work at pace without a drop in quality, managing multiple deadlines and pulling together long, complex documents under time pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. You will be interviewing colleagues across the business to extract the detail you need, often against tight timelines, and you need to do that efficiently and professionally.
  • High attention to detail and strong personal organisation.
Nice to Have
  • Experience within language services, interpreting, translation, or a related health and social care sector.
  • Familiarity with NHS procurement frameworks and terminology.
  • Experience using bid management or CRM software, HubSpot preferred.
Benefits
  • Holiday Allowance: 24 days of holiday per year, plus bank holidays, and an additional day off for your birthday.
  • Loyalty Reward: Earn an extra paid holiday for every two years of service, up to a maximum of 29 days.
  • Comprehensive Training: Enjoy a structured onboarding process, full training, and ongoing development opportunities, including annual group training to help you excel.
  • Employee Recognition: Celebrate achievements with our employee awards and development programs.
  • Health and Wellness: Benefit from health insurance, reduced gym memberships, reduced cinema tickets, and more.
  • Career Growth: Your efforts drive your success. With our ambitious growth plans, you’ll continually expand your expertise and opportunities.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme: Join the cycling revolution with our support.
  • Pension Scheme: Secure your future with our workplace pension plan.
  • Paid Sick Leave: Rest assured with paid time off during illness.
  • Social Events: Engage with colleagues and innovate through business-wide social events.
Recruitment Process
  • Successful applicants will complete a short pre-screen, including recorded answers to a few questions, along with a psychometrics test.
  • If shortlisted, you’ll be invited to a first interview (via Microsoft Teams or in person).
  • Finalists will attend a final interview (again, either online or face-to-face).
  • Please note, the process may change
