Job summary

Forsyth Barnes is partnering with a Derby-based automotive services group to recruit a Business Intelligence Engineer. The role will design, deliver and enhance reporting and data solutions using Power BI, SQL, Python and Snowflake, with Derby office-based 2–3 days per week.

You will transform complex business questions into trusted, scalable insights, supporting operational and commercial decisions across rental, fleet and automotive service operations.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering BI solutions in live operational or commercial environments.
• Strong Power BI capability including dashboard development and performance optimisation.
• Advanced SQL skills for transformations and analytics.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Knowledge of Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse.
• Python for data preparation, automation or testing.
• Understanding of dimensional modelling, data quality and governance.
• Ability to translate business questions into data products.
• Clear communication with stakeholders.
• Ownership and reliable delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine Power BI dashboards, reports and semantic models for operational and commercial users.
• Engineer reliable ETL/ELT pipelines across the data environment.
• Design and optimise Snowflake data models to support analysis and reporting.
• Write and improve SQL and Python solutions used in production data workflows.
• Translate stakeholder objectives into well-defined reporting products and analytics.
• Investigate data issues and strengthen quality controls in reporting and pipelines.
• Apply data governance practices and ensure documentation and access control.
• Contribute to data architecture decisions and promote scalable BI standards.
• Identify opportunities for automation and AI-enabled analysis.
• Communicate technical findings and delivery progress to technical and non-technical audiences.
