Job summary

Motia in Leeds is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer to design, develop and enhance dashboards and reports that empower data-driven decisions across the organisation.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to capture requirements, translate them into scalable BI solutions using Qlik Sense and Power BI, and optimise SQL queries and data models while maintaining data quality and performance. Hybrid pattern with on-site presence 2–3 days weekly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in data analytics, business intelligence, computer science or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a BI Developer using BI technologies (Qlik preferred).
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders to define requirements.
  • Strong SQL development and data warehouse / ETL experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset and initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and enhance dashboards, reports and self-service analytics using Qlik Sense and/or Power BI.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the business to gather requirements and translate into scalable BI solutions.
  • Develop and optimise SQL queries, views and data models to support reporting and analytical requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, data quality and operational efficiency through automation and enhanced analytics.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve issues relating to BI solutions, dashboards and underlying data.
  • Ensure reporting solutions are accurate, performant and aligned with business requirements.
  • Support the adoption of data-driven decision making by providing insight, training and guidance to business users.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, SQL administrators, and other BI developers to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives) and contribute to iterative development cycles.
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably required.

Job description

Reporting to the Business Intelligence Manager, the Business Intelligence Developer has responsibility for designing, developing, maintaining and enhancing reports and dashboards that support data-driven decision making across the organisation. Bachelor's degree in data analytics, business intelligence, computer science or a related field.

Proven experience as a Business Intelligence Developer using BI technologies (Qlik preferred).

Experience working with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements.

Good knowledge of SQL development and queries and experience in data warehouse design and ETL framework.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages - Word, Outlook, Excel.

Understanding of agile methodologies and experience working in an agile team.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to organise and prioritise.

Good communication and decision-making skills.

Customer focused mindset with a commitment to delivering value.

Location & Working Pattern

Hybrid working - 2/3 days on site at our Leeds Head Office a week
