Job summary

Warrington Borough Council is seeking a passionate Best Start Inclusion Practitioner (BSIP) to join the Best Start Families Hub team. You will support children aged 0-5 with SEND and work across family hubs, nurseries, schools and community settings to deliver timely, inclusive interventions.

The role is fixed term until 31 March 2029. DBS clearance and right to work in the UK are required; sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

  • Experience with children aged 0-5 and understanding of child development.
  • Knowledge of SEND legislation, inclusive practice and early intervention approaches.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with families and professionals.
  • Experience of multi-agency working and supporting children with additional needs.

Warrington Borough Council is seeking a passionate and experienced Best Start Inclusion Practitioner (BSIP) to join our Best Start Families Hub team. This exciting role will play a key part in delivering our commitment to early identification, inclusion and support for children aged 0-5 years with emerging or identified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The role

Working across Family Hubs, early years settings, schools and community venues, you will support children and families by providing timely interventions, promoting inclusive practice, and helping practitioners identify and respond to additional needs at the earliest opportunity. You will work collaboratively with parents, carers and partner agencies to ensure children receive the right support at the right time. This role is fixed term until 31 March 2029.

As a Best Start Inclusion Practitioner, you will:

  • Support the early identification of SEND and emerging developmental needs.
  • Deliver targeted, evidence-informed interventions and inclusive activities.
  • Provide SEND outreach support to nurseries, childminders and schools.
  • Guide families through local SEND services and support pathways.
  • Promote inclusive practice across Warrington's Family Hubs and partner services.
  • Work alongside health, education, voluntary sector and SEND professionals to improve outcomes for children and families.
  • Contribute to workforce development by modelling inclusive practice and building practitioner confidence.
What's needed?

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children aged 0-5 and a strong understanding of child development.
  • Has knowledge of SEND legislation, inclusive practice and early intervention approaches.
  • Is skilled in building positive relationships with families and professionals.
  • Has experience of multi-agency working and supporting children with additional needs.
  • Is passionate about reducing barriers and ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Key Dates & Further Information

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

DBS clearance is required.
