Job summary

Warrington Borough Council seeks four Best Start in Life Family Support Workers to join the Best Start in Life team. This is a full time, fixed term role until 31 March 2029, based in Warrington and focused on delivering integrated multi-agency support for children up to age 5 and their families.

You will work with parents, carers and partner agencies to assess needs, design tailored support plans and connect families to health, education, housing and financial services, while following

Qualifications

• Proven background working in early years education, social care, health or community support.
• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Childcare, Working With Parents, Social Care or related field.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, government policy and guidance.

Best StartFamily Hubs support families with children and young people of all ages, and at every stage of family life. Our Best Start Family Hubs bring together health, education and family support services under one roof, so that families do not have to go to lots of different places to get help.

The role

We are looking to appoint 4 x Best Start in Life Family Support Workers. This is a full time, fixed term position until 31 March 2029.

The Best Start in Life programme provides extra support to families to improve children's lives up to the age of 5 years old. The role is to support with delivering integrated multi-agency services for children, young people and families as part of the Best Start in Life agenda.

Under the direction of the Early Help Family Support Team Manager you will be expected to provide tailored, family centred services to families across the threshold of need within the Early Help Division. You will work collaboratively with parents, carers and partner agencies to ensure children receive the right support at the right time.

• Ability to work with families from pregnancy up to the age of 5 years old
• Ability to deliver targeted, high-quality support plans for families facing complex or emerging needs
• Ability to connect parents and carers to essential health, education, housing and financial services
• Ability to follow strict multi-agency safeguarding procedures
• Strong interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with parents and carers
• Ability to work alongside our partner agencies
• Self-motivated and flexible with the ability to use own initiative
• Good organisational skills with ability to prioritise work to deadlines
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to use IT systems

Education, Qualifications and Knowledge

• A proven background working in early years education, social care, health or community support
• A relevant NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Childcare, Working With Parents, Social Care or a related field
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, government policy and guidance

Location of the posts will be within one of our locality-based Family Hubs.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
