A leading educational support organization in the United Kingdom is seeking a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work with children with special educational needs. Qualifications

Overview

An excellent Specialist School in Abingdon is currently looking for a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join them on a long-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a Psychology or Criminology graduate, or experienced Teaching Assistant to develop experience with Special Educational Needs and Behaviour and help support their mental health.

Responsibilities
  • Work with children aged 11 to 16 with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma and behaviour challenges.
  • Keep all the pupils focused and on task in the classroom and manage their behaviour.
  • Help students understand and process their own emotions and struggles and support their emotional well‑being.
  • Support the school’s alternative forms of education, including arts and crafts, outdoor activities and cooking.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with children – this could be in any capacity, such as voluntary work, babysitting or in a sports setting.
  • Experience with challenging behaviour would also be greatly beneficial.
  • Graduate in Psychology, Criminology or a related field, or an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for mental health.
Benefits
  • Salary £85 to £95 per day.
  • Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 15:30.
  • Graduate opportunity in Mental Health & Youth Work.
