Job summary

Academics Ltd is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to work across Gloucestershire, supporting pupils with additional needs in Alternative Provision settings. You will help pupils engage with learning, manage emotions, and develop strategies for positive behaviour in a calm, supportive environment.

The role focuses on building resilience, fostering safe relationships, and working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to ensure consistent, high-quality support across placements.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADD, ADHD or SEMH.
• Calm, patient and consistent approach with resilience in challenging situations.
• Interest in behaviour, child development and understanding why pupils may present challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Support behaviour management and encourage positive choices.
• Help pupils understand and manage their emotions and behaviour.
• Develop strategies to support emotional regulation and reduce challenging behaviours.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may struggle with authority or social interaction.
• Collaborate with teachers and pastoral staff to provide consistent support.
