GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Supportprofessional to join schools in Barnsley, helping students overcome challenges and thrive in both their academic and personal lives.

This role is ideal for someone with resilience, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships with students who may present challenging behaviours. You will play a key role in creating a supportive and structured environment that encourages learning and wellbeing.

Responsibilities
  • Support students with behavioural, social, and emotional needs in the classroom and wider school environment.
  • Work closely with teachers to implement tailored strategies that promote positive behaviour.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to help students develop coping skills and self-regulation.
  • Monitor behaviour and progress, offering constructive feedback and encouragement.
  • Build strong relationships with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to support.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion across the school.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with young people, ideally in a behaviour support or pastoral role.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management and safeguarding practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and solution-focused in challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, youth work, or a related field are desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
