Job summary

Behaviour Mentors & HLTAs - SEMH / Behaviour Support - Walsall

Location: Walsall / Surrounding Areas

Salary: £90-£120 per day

Contract: Day-to-day, long-term and temp-to-perm

Start Date: Immediate

Are you confident supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour? We're looking for dedicated and resilient professionals to work with young people who benefit from structure, encouragement and relational support. Roles are available across Alternative Provision, PRUs, specialist settings and mainstream secondary schools. Whether your background is HLTA, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker or similar — if you can build trust and redirect behaviour positively, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups with learning and behaviour
  • Helping pupils regulate emotions and stay engaged in lessons
  • Using de-escalation, restorative and relational approaches
  • Supporting reintegration into classroom learning after incidents
  • Working closely with SENDCo, pastoral teams and senior leaders
  • Monitoring progress and maintaining accurate records
Who We're Looking For
  • HLTA qualification or strong experience in behaviour / SEMH roles
  • Confident with behaviour management & de-escalation
  • Passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
  • Able to stay calm and solution-focused under pressure
  • Experience in SEMH, AP, PRU, youth support or specialist settings

Full UK driving licence desirable due to varied locations
