Behaviour Mentor

Location: Shropshire
Pay: £89–£95 per day
Contract: Full-time, long-term

We’re working with welcoming specialist SEND and SEMH schools in and around Shropshire who are looking for calm, confident Behaviour Mentors to support pupils who find emotions and behaviour tricky to manage. This role is all about building trust, setting positive boundaries, and helping children feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.

If you’ve worked with children before and know how powerful a steady presence can be, this could be a brilliant fit.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be supporting pupils across the primary and secondary age range, working one-to-one or in small groups, and becoming a consistent role model they can rely on. Over time, you’ll help pupils develop better behaviour strategies, stronger emotional regulation, and more confidence in school.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Identifying pupils who need extra behaviour or emotional support
  • Delivering one-to-one mentoring sessions
  • Helping pupils manage emotions and behaviour in positive ways
  • Creating and reviewing individual action plans
  • Working closely with the SENCo and wider school team
  • Tracking progress and monitoring behaviour improvements
  • Supporting pupils during lunch and break times
  • Building positive links with families
What we’re looking for
  • Previous experience working with children or young people
  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach
  • Confidence using your own initiative
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to make a difference
  • Someone who can be a positive role model, even on tricky days
Why work with Protocol Education?
  • Competitive daily pay, paid weekly through PAYE
  • Guaranteed work agreements for steady income
  • FREE CPD, including Team Teach training
  • Honest, friendly support from a dedicated local consultant
  • £50 referral bonus for recommending a teacher or TA
