Job description

South West/ temporary / £13.69 - 18.00 per hour

TeacherActive is currently recruiting an experienced and passionate Behaviour Mentor to work within an inner‑city school in North Bristol / South Gloucestershire. This is a full‑time, Monday to Friday role supporting pupils who require behavioural, pastoral, and emotional support, with a strong focus on SEMH needs.

This role is ideal for someone who is confident, resilient, and genuinely committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group behavioural support
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs, helping them regulate emotions and behaviour
  • Implement behaviour strategies and intervention plans
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support pupils in and out of the classroom where required
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience working as a Behaviour Mentor in a school or primary school setting
  • Experience working in a secondary school with pastoral responsibilities
  • Proven experience supporting children with SEMH
  • A Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning
  • Availability to work full‑time (Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm)
  • Be able to drive and have access to your own transport
  • A DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a new DBS
