The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

We are looking for a dynamic, creative individuals with a passion for good practice and the development of others. You will know what “good” looks like and have the skills to work with students, newly qualified social workers and experienced social workers to support practice development so that we are confident that our children, young people and their families are experiencing excellence form our workforce.

The role of the Practice Supervisor is a critical role, working closely with the Practice Supervisor group and the Principal Social Worker to embed practice expectations across all or our service areas. You will support the Team Manager in their role by having oversight of practice, holding reflective conversations with the team, quality assuring work and having some involvement in performance management as a way of measuring the impact of training and development on practice.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with the Workforce and Learning Service as well as the Student and ASYE programme leads.

You must demonstrate resilience with a good understanding of the complexities of children’s social work. If you have significant experience of managing complex case work including child protection work and court proceedings and have a proven track record of the development of good practice, then we would love to hear from you.

You must have at least 4 years’ relevant social work experience of which 3 years must be post qualification; with a minimum of 6 months as an experienced social worker. Paid or voluntary work in a similar, relevant field will be considered at application stage. It is desirable that you already hold the stage 2 practice educator award or show a willingness to start the award within 6 months of starting in the post.
