Seeking an IT Asset Manager to be based in our set up based in Salford to manage the provision of core IT technology for a sub-division of BBC News, bringing sound IT knowledge and experience to the role. Responsible for controlling the IT spend across your designated business unit within BBC News, you will be managing to ensuring compliance with BBC policy, appropriate application of exceptions where there is valid business justification and delivering savings across the range of commodities expenditure., BBC News provides internationally-renowned news output 24 hours a day that helps people to understand and engage with the world around them. It has teams that operate in all corners of the world, delivering breaking news, editorial analysis and long-form journalism across television, radio and digital channels. All this has been made possible by the provision and resilience of our IT services. The continuing operation of our IT services, while ensuring that our processes offer value for money, sustainability and resilience, is a mission critical objective within BBC News.
Responsibilities
- To be responsible the lifecycle management of IT assets and the operation of key controls in your designated business unit.
- To be the escalation point for user's IT problems and issues, which cannot be solved through the standard process.
- To ensure compliance with pan-BBC and News Group policy, and ensure that exceptions received the appropriate level of authorisation.
- To be accountable for IT spend within your designated business unit as well as auditing, managing and tracking assets.
- To be responsible for communicating BBC IT strategy and policy within your business unit
- To work with senior stakeholders in forecasting the IT technology needs of your business unit
- To be the lead approver for IT spend in your business unit
- Willingness to travel to London as required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in service delivery and management within complex, large-scale business environments.
- Skilled in stakeholder, colleague, and user relationship management to ensure high-quality service delivery aligned with performance targets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a talent for quickly understanding and resolving complex issues.
- Demonstrated capability to re-engineer processes and practices for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
- Resilient under pressure, with a focus on selecting optimal solutions based on cost, risk, and timescale considerations.
- Technically proficient, with a strong grasp of ITIL and Service Desk technologies, and a quick learner of new systems and processes.
- Experienced in contractual compliance, data analytics for user experience, and effective communication of technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

- PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: up to £50,000 p.a. depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
