Job summary

Carmel College in St Helens is seeking a Basketball Coach (BBCS26) on a casual part-time basis to lead coaching sessions and help run a thriving basketball programme. You will organise training, arrange fixtures and support student participation while upholding the college ethos.

Applicants should be capable of safe coaching practices, working with students of mixed abilities, and ensuring equipment and transport arrangements are in place for matches. This role starts as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities

• To prepare and implement well-structured and progressive coaching sessions, ensuring a high quality, enjoyable coaching experience centred around the needs of the participants.
• To help in the provision of high quality, competitive team sports ensuring the maximum participation by students.
• Ensure equipment is set up prior to commencement of coaching sessions.
• To organise weekly training sessions and attend trials as and when required.
• To follow good practice and ensure that activities are carried out within a safe. environment complying with health and safety requirements.
• To provide advice and guidance to prospective students/players in a supportive manner.
• Ensure that sessions are carried out in a safe environment, ensuring the health and safety of himself/herself and persons who are participating in sessions.
• To liaise with the Sports Assistant in establishing a full fixture list together with appropriate transport and refereeing arrangements.
• To carry out administrative duties as necessary e.g. maintain player registers. Also, to keep an accurate log of hours worked and complete a timesheet each month.
• To organise the team on match days including selection, kit and first aid arrangements.
• To agree to abide by a code of conduct and carry out duties in accordance with Carmel Colleges policies.
• To wear appropriate kit and equipment and act as an ambassador for the College and the Basketball programme.
• The Governors will appoint staff who are willing and able to contribute to the Catholic ethos of the College.
• Each member of the College will take reasonable care for the health and safety of himself/herself and persons who may be affected by his/her omissions at work.
• To undertake any other duties as may be assigned commensurate with the grade and overall responsibility level of the post and as changing circumstances may require.

Salary: £27.87 per hour (Approximately 10 hrs per week)
