A performing arts organization in Tudhoe is seeking a Barback to assist with event setup and maintain the bar area. Primary Function

The Concessions Barback assists Bartenders and other Concessions staff with event set up and tear down duties, maintaining stock during events, and ensuring the bar area is clean. This position also secures product at the end of the show and performs routine closing duties. This position may be asked to open the 4th floor bar and serve snacks, beer, and wine.

Duties, Responsibilities, and Key Performance Objectives
  • Arrives two hours prior to performance to begin set-up at the Concessions bars.
  • Performs event set-up duties on night of performance, including:
    • Puts away product from deliveries.
    • Stocks beer, wine, water, creamer, and juices to bars.
    • Makes coffee and transports to the designated bar.
    • Switches out or empties trash cans.
  • Communicates with bartenders throughout performance to see if they need anything.
  • Maintains stock of bar supplies throughout performances and ensures the bar area is kept clean.
  • Performs tear down duties, including:
    • Helps to take down stock from bars.
    • Disassembles the coffee urns, cleans them, and puts them away.
    • Restocks fridge in kitchen room with beer, wine, and champagne.
  • Takes inventory as requested.
  • Serves patrons at the 4th floor bar.
  • Understands alcohol management, including procedures for checking IDs, and recognizing personal limits of guests.
  • Maintains guest service standards and procedures. Resolves guest complaints/issues or directs them to appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Provides a minimum of 50% availability for monthly shift openings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to go up and down steps regularly during shift.
  • Ability to stand for 4 hours and move quickly to maintain bar stock.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to remain calm and resolve challenges and/or requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent fiscal responsibility.
Credentials and Experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Experience in guest relations or hospitality preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
Desired Requirements for Alcohol Service:
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to do basic math quickly.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain TIPS certification.

  • The majority of CAPA’s public events take place at night and on weekends. This position requires occasional presence on-site during nights and weekends.
